Children’s Cancer Institute

Children’s Cancer Institute is the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to research into childhood cancer, and is recognised as one of the world’s leading childhood cancer research institutes. Founded by two fathers of children with cancer in 1976, it has grown to employ more than 250 staff and students and has established a national and international reputation for scientific excellence.

The Institute’s focus is translational research – research that generates clinically useful discoveries. An integrated team of laboratory researchers and clinician scientists work in partnership to develop safer and more effective treatments that can be progressed from the laboratory to the clinic (‘bench to bedside’) as quickly as possible, giving children with cancer the best chance of cure with the highest possible quality of life.
